As the IMF and World Bank convene for their Spring Meetings, join us for a critical conversation on sovereign debt justice with global leaders, including Nobel laureate Joseph Stiglitz and Zane Dangor, Director-General of South Africa’s Department of International Relations and Cooperation.
We’re also honored to welcome a panel of global experts, including María Emilia Mamberti (CESR), Penelope Hawkins (UNCTAD), Marina Zucker Marques (Boston University), and Kamal Ramburuth (IEJ), in a conversation moderated by Mzwanele Ntshwanti (IEJ).
This event marks the launch of a new paper series on sovereign debt justice, led by the Institute for Economic Justice (IEJ) with contributions from CESR and Boston University’s Global Development Policy Center.
CESR’s new paper—to be published as part of this series—sets out how international human rights principles can guide debt restructuring processes. It calls for a UN-led, multilateral framework that upholds dignity, equity, and fiscal justice. The paper will be published the day of the event and will also be available on our website.
